Smart Phone Call

Interested in becoming an ARCH Befriender?

Our Befrienders are not counsellors - their role is to listen to the caller’s story, be compassionate, let them know that they've called the right place and explain what help ARCH can offer. The call details would then be securely passed on to the office where the call will be logged and any further contact arranged if requested. Your commitment would be to cover the Helpline, from home, one evening per month from 7pm – 10pm on your allocated night by logging on to the system.

Application Process

Before you can join the Helpline as a Befriender, we provide and require all new potential Befrienders to fill out an application form and attend a training course. The training covers some of the emotional and psychological issues that people experience after abortion, and then we will show you how to deal with calls and various situations which may arise on the Helpline. We'll also have some social time. The training course is residential and requires you to attend the full course which consists of 3 days. Meals and accommodation will be provided.
